Name Number

In numerology, the name number, also known as the destiny or expression number, is derived from assigning numerical values to the letters in a person's name and then reducing those values to a single digit or a master number (11, 22, or 33). Each letter is assigned a specific numerical value based on its position in the alphabet.

Here is a numerical chart for assigning values to the letters:

1: A, J, S

2: B, K, T

3: C, L, U

4: D, M, V

5: E, N, W

6: F, O, X

7: G, P, Y

8: H, Q, Z

9: I, R

To calculate your name number, you would assign the appropriate numerical value to each letter in your name, add them together, and reduce the sum to a single digit or a master number.

For example, let's calculate the name number for the name "John Smith":

J (1) + O (6) + H (8) + N (5) + S (1) + M (4) + I (9) + T (2) + H (8) = 44

Since 44 is a master number, we don't reduce it further. However, if the sum had been a two-digit number that wasn't a master number, we would add the individual digits together until we obtained a single digit.

It's worth noting that different numerologists may use slightly different charts or methods for calculating name numbers, but the general principles remain the same.
